The simple, clear volume of the wood residence is extended by the gatehouse, consisting
of the garage and utility house, to form a 3-sided private garden oasis, protected from the street.
The third side of this "Garden Atrium" is bordered by an arbor-like tunnel which leads
the visitor from the street, through the gatehouse and directly to the house entrance.
The main residence, constructed as a wood skeleton with special wood tile wall coverings,
opens up spaciously to the south garden by means of large sliding glass doors.
The location of the house on the southern slope of a low mountain range enables optimal
use of the solar power collectors.
